Severe Weather Threat Shifts East into Midwest / Great Lakes Region Today...

As mentioned in a post yesterday, there will be a threat of severe weather shifting Eastward into the Great Lakes and Midwest today.  Above is the latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, OK.  Severe storms are forecast within the yellow and red shaded areas on the image, with a lesser risk for more isolated severe storms in the brown shaded areas.

Within the primary severe weather threat area over the Midwest and Great Lakes Regions, damaging wind gusts will be the greatest threat, followed by large hail and isolated tornadoes.

The highest risk of severe weather, and particularly damaging winds, will reside within the red shaded area on the image, which includes the cities of Peoria, Chicago, Milwaukee and Green Bay.

Severe weather will be most probable from the mid to late afternoon hours into the evening.  The possibility exists for one or more lines or clusters of storms to organize and continue to move Eastward into the western Ohio Valley overnight.  Damaging winds would be the primary threat with any such activity.

If you live in or near the severe weather threat area for today and into tonight, please remain alert and be prepared to seek shelter immediately if threatening weather is observed or a warning is issued.
