Cooler Weather On the Way As Promised...

A strong cold front is moving Southward through the Central Plains and Rockies late this afternoon, and promises to bring cooler weather to a large portion of the middle third of the country and the Great Lakes as the Labor Day Weekend progresses...

Most of the notably cooler air is behind the solid blue line on the surface map above, where readings are currently in the 60s and 70s!

The front will continue advancing Southward tonight and into Sunday, punching into much of Texas by 4pm CDT on Sunday afternoon, as shown on the latest GFS computer model forecast below (cold front is solid blue line):

Highs will only reach the 80s across much of Oklahoma on Sunday, with cool overnight lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s expected for Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Tomorrow may be the last near 100 degree day in central and south Texas, with readings only expected to reach the high 80s on Monday.  Overnight lows on Monday night and early Tuesday will reach the upper 50s across the area!

Scattered showers and thunderstorms may accompany the front in portions of Kansas and Oklahoma tonight and early Sunday.  Unfortunately, here in Texas, the prospect for rain with the system is looking meager at best.
