Severe Weather Update

The above image shows the latest Tornado (red) and Severe Thunderstorm (blue) watches that are in effect, as issued by the SPC in Norman, OK.

The radar image below shows widespread severe thunderstorm activity that is ongoing across Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma and northeast Texas:

Additional development is expected across southwest Oklahoma and extreme northwest Texas during the next couple of hours (where the Severe Thunderstorm Watch was recently issued).

Additional development is also possible southward along and East of the I-35 corridor into central Texas.  Like yesterday, a strong cap is in place across this region (including the Austin-San Antonio area), however if any isolated storm is able to form in this region, it will quickly become severe.

Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible with all severe storms that form in the watch areas this afternoon & evening.

Strong, potentially damaging tornadoes are possible from northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma, Eastward into adjacent portions of Arkansas and Louisiana.  This activity will shift Eastward later this evening and into the overnight hours, reaching portions of the Mississippi and Tennessee Valley areas.

Residents across all of the above regions should remain on a high state of alert this afternoon, evening and into tonight.  Be prepared to seek shelter immediately if threatening weather approaches your area.
