National Weatherperson's Day!

You probably won't find any gift displays at your favorite store, nor any special 'weather' cards lining the Hallmark aisle, but today is "National Weatherperson's Day".

It often goes unnoticed, but there are many dedicated professionals that work 24 hours per day, 7 days per week (including holidays) to make sure that we not only have basic, daily weather forecasts, but even more importantly - advance warning of severe weather (like the massive blizzard this week and severe thunderstorms and tornadoes during the spring).

Having formerly been in the profession for a number of years, I can tell you that they're accustomed to being made fun of when they get the forecast wrong, yet getting little or no recognition when they get it right - so take a minute or two to shoot your favorite weatherperson an e-mail or other thank you note today - he or she will appreciate it!
